If you didn't get whom i am talking about, well its none other than "Baba Harbhajan Singh". Many of you won't know whom i am talking about as many of the recent people prefer knowing about the other famous people like the actors, actresses or the cricketers, i had made that kind of mistake too, its not bad to know about other people's success as we can be inspired by their stories but we should also not forget about the freedom fighters. This story is one of a kind and very unique and more than powerful. If you haven't heard about this, I am sure you'll be more than delighted to hear it, and you may change your perspective about your life.
“A Soldier Is Never Off-Duty”. This statement was a tag line of a famous Bollywood movie. But it comes true in the case of “Baba Harbhajan Singh”. You all may have heard about him before. But there are some beliefs and incidences related to him that you must know. This is the real story of the ‘Hero OfNathula’. And there is a reason why everyone symbolizes him with that name. When it comes to theIndian Armythere is nothing like false beliefs and superstitions. But the Indian army has to believe this special case. This is the real and very interesting story related to the Indian Army.
Without any further due let me begin talking about his exceptional life.
So, let’s start his story from the beginning.
Born into a Sikh family on 30 August 1946 in the village of Sadrana (now in Pakistan), he accomplished his studies from a village school and further made his way into the DAV High School in Patti, Punjab, in March 1965. He chose to be a soldier and made his space as a soldier in Amritsar. One of the biggest achievements was when he was martyred in 1968 near the Nathulain easternSikkim,India, soon after at the age of 22, he took his last breath, but as strongly determined he was, he continued serve for his country, this is how.
A few days after his demise he appeared in one of is mate's dream telling him about where he could find him. The next day he went to search for it and found it one the exact same place where the dream directed. They were extremely shocked. Not only that many incidents took place after that. Baba Harhajan Singh would appear in the dreams of the soldiers and tell them about the plans of the Chinese not just in the Indian Army but also in the Chinese army so that they can sort the mis-deeds. Now as i know may not be believing it aren't you well this isn't a Imagination of mine, its all true. If you still don't believe me i'll tell you about another incident- Another belief among the army is that he again came in a soldier’s dream. This time he expressed his desire for a samadhi to be constructed in his memory. Later the samadhi was constructed by 23 Punjab Regiment in East Sikkim. This place is now well known as Baba Mandir and very popular among tourists and the army too.
He not only gets worshipped but also gets promoted and is served in every ways.
His bed, shoes and everything is made everyday, and it is also said that the the bed has wrinkles and his shoes have mud in it after each day. Its astonishing isn't it?
Also, Every year on 11September, a jeep departs with his personal belongings to the nearest railway station,New Jalpaiguri, from where it is then sent by train to the village ofKuka, in theKapurthala districtof the Indian state ofPunjab. While empty berths on any train of the Indian Railways are invariably allocated to any waitlisted passenger or on a first-come-first-served basis by the coach attendants, a special reservation for the Baba is made. Every year a seat is left empty for the journey to his hometown and three soldiers accompany the Baba to his home. A small sum of money is contributed by soldiers posted in Nathula to be sent to his mother each month and his village still remembers him as martyr and undertook the initiative to help his family.
There are many cases that people have seen him while travelling from the train.
Wasn’t that a really interesting story? It is something unbelievable and a matter of proud at the same time. It’s certainly his love and attachment with the army that has kept his soul alive till now. It is correctly said that even the uniform of a soldier plays its duty. Even after his death, Harbhajan Singh is still alive between us and still playing his duty and guarding the nation.
This was it for the blog hope you found it interesting! Until next time byeee!
