Only a child can marvel at the colours of a butterfly, or at the pearl-like droplets of dew on fresh green leaves, in a way that no adult can. A child's ears can pick the chirp of a cricket in the middle of a thunderstorm, and can see the beauty of a lily blooming in the middle of a murky pond. With a mind that is not clouded by facts accrued from knowledge of the world around it, a child finds delight and astonishment in the tiniest fragments of nature, which an educated adult might routinely find mundane.

But rarely, you come across an adult, who still has an inquisitive streak, who still finds delight in the small pleasures of life and who can marvel at Nature's mystical ways, much like a child. And if that adult is blessed with the power to translate his musings to magically-spun stories, he must be Ruskin Bond.
