Hello Friends ! Today I am going to tell you about Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The full name of Dr. Kalam was Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. He was known as the Missile Man of India. He was born on October 15,1931 in Rameswaram. He was an Indian aerospace scientist who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He studied physics and aerospace engineering. He won Barat Ratna , Padma Bhushan , Padma Vibhushan , Hoover Medal , Veer Savarkar Award , Ramanujan Award , King Charles II Medal , International von Karman Wings Award , Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration and IEEE Honorary Membership. He was director of DRDO { Defence Research and Development Organisation }. He worked as a scientist in ISRO { Indian Space Research Organisation }. Some of his successful inventions were Agni , Prithvi , SLV - III , Pokhran - II and Agni Missile Program. His father Jainulabdeen Marakayar was a boat owner and imam of a local mosque while his mother Ashiamma was a housewife.His father owned a ferry that took Hindu pilgrims back and forth between Rameswaram. Kalam was the youngest of four brothers and one sister in his family. He studied in Mandapam Panchayat Union Middle School , Schwartz Higher Secondary School , St. Joseph's College in Tiruchirapalli and Madras Institute of Technology in Chennai. Kalam loved teaching. Even when he was the president , he only had 2 pair of clothes and shoes as he donated all salary he received for charity. Dr. Kalam was delivering a lecture at the IIM , Shillong , where he collapsed and passed away due to a heart attack. He died doing what he loved the most - Teaching.
